Mandatory Criteria

The Core Requirements

Must Be 21+

Age Requirement

You must be at least 21 years old at the time of your application. There is no upper age limit, provided you meet the medical standards.

3 Years Experience
🚗

Driving Experience

You must hold a full DVLA, Northern Ireland, or other EEA state driving licence that is at least 3 years old.

Legal Status Required

Right to Work

You must have the legal right to live and work in the UK. We will need to verify your passport or share code.

Enhanced DBS Checked

Character & Conduct

You must be of "good character". We guide you through the Enhanced DBS check to ensure your background history meets TfL standards.

To ensure passenger safety, you must meet the same medical standards as heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers.

  • Vision and hearing assessment
  • Blood pressure and cardiovascular check
  • Full medical history review by a GP

Skills Assessment

TfL requires all drivers to demonstrate their ability to navigate the city and understand safety regulations.

SERU Test

Safety, Equality and Regulatory Understanding assessment.

English Skill

Speaking and Listening assessment conducted at TfL centres.
