You must hold a full DVLA, Northern Ireland or EEA driving licence that is at least 3 years old. International licence-holders may need to exchange first.
You must have the legal right to live and work in the UK. We verify your passport or share code as part of the application package.
You must be of "good character". We guide you through the Enhanced DBS check and Update Service registration to meet TfL standards.
To ensure passenger safety, you must meet the same medical standards as heavy-goods-vehicle (HGV) drivers — submitted to TfL on form TPH204.
TfL requires every applicant to demonstrate they can navigate the city safely and understand safety regulations — three separate assessments, all at designated TfL centres.
